It was Peyton Manning’s night from the start.
The 49ers traveled to Denver to see if they could spoil Peyton Manning’s hunt for 509 touchdown passes and they didn’t succeed. The football gods were with Peyton Manning tonight as he went 22-26 for 318 yards and four touchdowns.
Kaepernick couldn’t perform to the same level as Manning tonight, only completing 24 passes out of his 39, throwing for 263 yards with one touchdown paired with an interception. Even though Kaepernick didn’t look stellar he didn’t look bad. He lead the 49ers down the field for 80 yards and a score, hooking up with Stevie Johnson on a four-yard pass play, which brought them within 11 points at halftime. Unfortunately it got out of hand quick and Manning decided that tonight was the night he wanted to pass Brett Favre for most touchdown passes.
After tonight’s loss the 49ers drop to 4-3 landing them into second place in the NFC West behind the 5-1 Cardinals. The Seahawks are nipping at the heels of the 49ers at a record of 3-3, and the Rams round out the bunch at 2-4. Even though the 49ers lost it could have been a lot worse, but all thanks go to the Rams for beating the Seahawks in a real close battle coming down to the wire, well and the referees.
The 49ers will take this loss with them into their bye week and hopefully build off it as they will host the Rams on Nov. 2. The bye week comes at a great time for the 49ers because they need some rest. In the bye week they will be hoping to get Vernon Davis back to 100 percent. Davis has been battling a back injury for most of the season and has missed two games so far.
Hopefully this bye week will help Jim Harbaugh figure things out as well. According to reports Harbaugh and the 49er’s management aren’t seeing eye to eye about where the franchise is heading. Harbaugh needs to focus on the season first and how he is going to get them to the playoffs.
