In recent years Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, Nevada has become a High School sports powerhouse. Notable alums include; the Dallas Cowboys’ Demarco Murray, the Indiana Pacers’ CJ Watson and most recently the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 2013 first round draft pick Shabazz Muhammad.
As it turns out, Shabazz isn’t the only one in the Muhammad family that can play. Last year little brother Rashad led Bishop Gorman to a 29-3 record and the second of back to back state championships. As a senior and the 59th ranked shooting guard in the nation, Rashad averaged 19 points 4 rebounds and 2 assists a game.
Rashad isn’t as big as Shabazz but the 6’4 guard is still effective. He can create his own shot and moves well without the ball. He reminds me of a very, very raw version of the Los Angeles’ Lakers’ Guard/Forward Nick Young.
He may not turn any heads this season but as Rashad gets stronger he has the potential to be a potent scorer in the Spartan’s future.
