San Jose, CA–Today, the Sharks welcome into to town the Phoenix Coyotes for the second time this season. This contest, marks it their second of four scheduled meetings. In their last matchup, San Jose defeated the Desert Dogs by a final 4-1, in which featured Sharks rookie Tomas Hertl scoring his very first NHL goal against Phoenix netminder Mike Smith. In addition, he also netted his second mark that made his first career multi-goal game.
In their last ten games, both the Sharks and the Coyotes have recorded identical records of 7-1-2.
Players to keep an eye on for this matchup are Logan Couture of San Jose and Kieth Yandle from Phoenix. In addition to those players, both Tommy Wingels from the Sharks and Shane Doan of the Coyotes are also one’s to watch as well. Currently, Logan Couture is riding a three game point streak that includes a total of five points to his credit. Veteran defenseman Kieth Yandle is coming in with a five game point streak with an impressive nine points. Third line forward Tommy Wingels has been great as well, putting up three points in last two games. Coyotes Captain Shane Doan puts his four game point on the line as he registered five points in that span.
One big piece of good news for the Sharks, is that veteran defenseman Dan Boyle is set to make his return in the lineup after missing the last seven games. Boyle spent that time recovering from that nasty hit from behind he received courtesy of St. Louis Blues forward Maxim Lapierre.
San Jose returns to SAP Center tonight after completing a five game road trip in which they posted a 3-1-1 record. Tonight’s contest has a 7:30p puck drop and is televised on Comcast Sports Net California. Also you can tune in to their flagship radio station 9.85/102.1 KFOX.
