When Jared Veldheer and Tyvon Branch come back from injury, the Oakland Raiders will be forced to cut some players. I think that Jacoby Ford should be one of those players cut. Not only has Ford shown that he has the toughness of Darren McFadden but he has lost that explosive speed that we all used to love. During today’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacoby Ford made a horrendous mistake on a punt return that would make bay area legend (In a bad way) Kyle Williams grimace.
Some may say that the Raiders can’t cut Ford because of one play but Ford is not worthy of a roster spot anymore. The Raiders need to evaluate each and every player on how they can help in the future. Right now the Raiders are equipped with some exciting young wide receivers in Denarius Moore, Rod Streater, Brice Butler, Juron Criner, and Andre Holmes who should all be in front of Ford in the pecking order.
Expect the Raiders to tinker with their return game options over the next few weeks as we have seen Phillip Adams, Taiwan Jones, and Jacoby Ford all try out for the job. Although Jones also fumbled in the first half of the Steelers game, he would be an interesting option in the return game. Sorry Raider Nation, it looks like Jacoby Ford’s fast start to his career was just a mirage.
