San Jose–Last night against the Ottawa Senators, Sharks forward Tomaš Hertl opened the scoring with his seventh goal of the season within the games opening minute.
Later in the contest, Hertl collided with Senators Clarke McArthur in the games second period. After watching the video, it looked like Hertl fell into McArthur causing his shoulder to make contact with the Ottawa forward’s elbow. Therefore, he was taken to the Sharks dressing room for evaluation and did not make his return in the games final period.
Today, the Sharks organization held their practice before heading on the road to face off against the St. Louis Blues. Hertl did not participate in the practice session but is scheduled to be in the lineup for Tuesday. These next days should help Hertl get some much needed rest as the Sharks will take on a very physical team in that of the St. Louis Blues.
On the season, San Jose is currently a perfect 5-0-0 and the Blues are 4-0-0. Both teams are part of the three remaining clubs around the league that have yet to experience a lose in the young 2013-2014 NHL season, they other club is the Colorado Avalanche with the same record as the Sharks.
This should be a good test for the Sharks as this will be their second road game this season. Their first was against Vancouver in which they beat the Canucks 4-1. As of today, their road record is 1-0-0.
