San Jose State (2-3, 1-1 MWC) will look to stay on the winning course when it takes on Colorado State for its third consecutive conference game.
SJSU got its first conference win when it took down Hawaii 37-27 last week.
Spartans senior quarterback David Fales, slowly but surely, is getting back to his 2012 self as he threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns against the Warrior defense.
Fales still lacks consistency, however, as he also threw two interceptions during last week’s matchup, giving him a total of seven picks the first five games of the season.
Fales will have another opportunity to regain a second wind against a Colorado State defense that gave up 365 yards and five touchdowns through the air last week against the University of Texas at El Paso.
After struggling against the run for several weeks, the Spartans defense were able to limit Hawaii’s running attack to 87 total rushing yards but gave up 386 passing yards and three passing touchdowns at the same time.
SJSU will be facing a balanced Colorado State offense that recorded 341 yards passing and 250 yards rushing last week.
Rams junior quarterback Garrett Grayson has played well so far this season totaling 1,141 yards passing, seven touchdowns and only two interceptions.
The only games in which Grayson did not throw for a touchdown were against in-state rival Colorado and powerhouse No. 1 Alabama.
Expect another high scoring, closely contested matchup between two very good Mountain West Conference quarterbacks.
