BREAKING NEWS: Justice For Tomas Hertl

San Jose, CA– Earlier today the Department Of Player Safety made the call to Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alex Edler for hearing for his illegal check to San Jose forward Tomaš Hertl.

In last night’s game, the Vancouver defenseman made pass at Hertl near the Canucks in the middle frame. Edler took it upon himself to target the Sharks forward head in an attempt to throw San Jose off their game.

As a result of the check to the head, it jettison Hertl’s helmet into the air. Unfortunately, Edler received no penalty on the play.

San Jose would however beat the Canucks by a final score of 4-1.  After reviewing the video evidence, the league has decided to suspend the Vancouver defenseman for 3 games. The following is the link of the video explanation:  http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=60&id=456728&lang=en. The sentence comes at a very steep price as Edler will be forced to hand over $182,926.83 of his 2013-2014 NHL Salary. Just like Stuart’s punishment earlier this week, his salary will be applied to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

  1. It very difficult to watch a hit to the head. It can cause a lot of problems that might not show up right away. Everything from not seeing well to not being able to stand without seeing the room . We will have to watch his for a while.
