Warriors Open Preseason Tonight Against Star-Less Lakers

NBA: Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets

Yes, the time has finally arrived for all you basketball-starved crazies, as the Golden State Warriors take on their division rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, tonight at 7PM at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario. For all it’s courtside starpower, expect that to be the only place you’ll see stars if you manage to tune into this game. As reported by ESPN LA’s Dave McMenamin, Laker All-Stars Pau Gasol and Steve Nash will sit tonight for some rest.

Kobe Bryant, who ruptured his achilles tendon against the Warriors last season, is currently in Germany undergoing more orthokine treatment on his knees, and will remain there for about a week. Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni told reporters following Friday’s practice that his projected starters for tonight’s game would be returners Steve Blake and Jordan Hill, along with newcomers Nick YoungWesley Johnson, and Chris Kaman.

While D’Antoni was willing to offer up his starting five for tonight’s game, Warriors coach Mark Jackson was a little more secretive and would not. He did, however, caution reporters not to read too much into who starts tonight’s game. You can expect to see everyone in action tonight, except for Festus Ezeli, who is recovering from knee surgery. If you’re bummed you can’t catch this game, don’t fret, as the Dubs will have their preseason televised opener Monday night at home against the Sacramento Kings in the return of ex-Warrior Carl Landry.
