Oakland Raiders: Time To Shut Up The Haters

Every member of the Raider Nation knows that they are constantly disrespected by the national media. Even when Jon Gruden and Rich Gannon were leading the Raiders to success in the early 2000’s they were ridiculed by the talking heads. However, as I am getting prepared to watch the game tonight, the media has hit a new low by laughing when talking about the Raiders chance to even compete in the game. This is nothing new for the 2013 Oakland Raiders as they were told they were one of the worst teams to ever be assembled. The best way to shut up the haters is to show up tonight and play smash mouth Oakland Raiders football.

While it is a longshot that the Raiders pull off a win in Denver, we must not forget that the Raiders have won 4 out of the last 5 games in Denver. Denver will also be without Von Miller and Ryan Clady. Even if cornerback Champ Bailey plays he will not be 100%.

I doubt many pundits have even watched the new look Raiders this season because if they did they would not be laughing at their chances. Who leads the NFL in rushing yards and sacks? Yeah, the Oakland Raiders do!

Offensive coordinator Greg Olsen has created a great offensive scheme that perfectly fits Terrelle Pryor. While most other teams are failing at the read-option, the Raiders are thriving with the Pryor-McFadden duo in the backfield. McFadden has owned the Broncos throughout his career so imagine what he could do with the even more explosive Pryor with him in the backfield.

Dennis Allen’s aggressive hybrid defense has finally come to life as they are leading the league in sacks. General manager Reggie McKenzie did a remarkable job bringing in a plethora of defensive players this offseason. Throw out last year’s tape as Peyton Manning has not played this Oakland Raiders defense.

I am not going to say the Raiders are going to win tonight against the Broncos but the Raiders will be competitive throughout the game. If the Raiders can play their style of football they can show the football world that they are no longer the sorry Raiders of the last decade.
