The ultimate way to throw a curveball into a week’s game plan preparation happened to Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers.
The Niners were game planning primarily in defense against Andrew Luck and a lack of running game from the Indianapolis Colts.
Enter Trent Richardson.
Richardson and the Colts shocked the NFL with a surprisingly unexpected trade.
The Colts gave up their 2014 first round draft pick for the rights to Browns’ running back, Trent Richardson.
The former Alabama star has not produced the best stats this season, but he hasn’t been on the best team either.
Richardson has rushed for 105 total yards in two games with the Browns and has reeled in 51 receiving yards.
Harbaugh’s defense should be amped up after the lopsided loss at Seattle. The Niners have given up 235 rushing yards through two games, ranked 24th in the NFL.
Andrew Luck is smart enough to air it out if he sees the 49ers defense zeroing in Richardson.
It was already going to be a good match-up with Andew Luck and Jim Harbaugh reuniting after being together at Stanford.
What a run that was for Harbaugh and Luck to turn Stanford’s football program around.
It should be an entertaining game Sunday.
