Sio Moore Could Become Face of the Oakland Raiders

NCAA Football: South Florida at Connecticut

Third round pick Sio Moore has the makings of the next great Oakland Raiders linebacker. I’m not even talking about potential greatness that we will see in a few years, I believe Sio Moore will become one of the Raiders best defenders  from the very first snap against the Indianapolis Colts (If his toe injury keeps him out week one, it will be against the Jaguars). Even when it looked like the rest of the team had given up during awful spurts in the preseason, rookie Sio Moore played with tenacity that we haven’t seen in years.

Like most of the Raider Nation, Moore goes into each game with a chip on his shoulder. Although Moore was graded as a late first round talent, he wasn’t picked until the third round of the 2013 NFL draft. Moore has been quoted as saying that he is pissed off that he fell in the draft and that he feels he is the best rookie linebacker.

When the Raiders defense inevitably gives up big plays this season, Moore will be the guy playing angry and never showing an ounce of quit. Moore could not have picked a better jersey number to wear. as he is wearing the same number 55 jersey that Rolando McClain wore. McClain was the epitome of laziness and cowardice that plagued the Raiders for a decade.

No matter what happens during the season, the Raider Nation will know that at least one player will go into the game with the same passion that they do. It may take a few years to go back to greatness, but Sio Moore is a player that can change the Raiders losing culture.
